Are you the right person for security work?

To work in security, you need to be able to communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and treat people with respect. You should be able to:

  • communicate clearly in English, both in speaking and writing.
  • speak clearly on a two-way radio.
  • communicate using the Phonetic Alphabet
  • provide good customer service and treat patrons, clients and co-workers with integrity, empathy and respect, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, culture, or religion.
  • assess risks, notice when something is not right, and know when to call for support.
  • follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and write clear incident reports.
  • speak with members of the public in a calm and professional way.
  • help calm a situation without making it worse.
